Lamborghini completes the “Modena 100 ore” race in style

20日 10月 2020

After 4 days and 1000 kilometers, two classic Lamborghini cars from the Mudetec stormed over the “2020 Modena 100 ore” finishing line. Regarded as one of the most scenic and dynamic races in the world, the event celebrated its twentieth birthday this year with a very special route. Starting in Rome, the cars sped along traffic-free roads, passed through beautiful towns, like Perugia, Orvieto and Arezzo, and stopped off for circuits at the legendary motorsport tracks of Magione, Imola and Mugello, before reaching the checkered flag in Piazza Roma in Modena.

Adding to the elegance, style and vintage nostalgia of this exclusive event were two classic Lamborghinis from yesteryear: a 1990 edition of the 25th Anniversary Edition Countach and a 1973 Jarama GTS. With its Tahiti Blue exteriors and natural leather interiors, the Jarama GTS is a splendid example of the speed and comfort of 1970s “granturismo”, while the Countach, still flaunting its original metallic silver livery, is a genuine collector’s item, as it was the very last model to roll off the production line.

Both cars were released from the Lamborghini Museum of Technology, Mudetec, for the event, and the Countach was driven by the legendary Emanuele Pirro, five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The race was a real celebration of classic Italian automotive design and engineering that was thrilling to both watch and take part in, and naturally the two Lamborghinis finished in excellent condition, showcasing once again the brand’s technical excellence and reliability.

Pirro captured the excitement of the occasion when he commented, “I had never driven a Countach before, and I fell in love with it immediately. It’s powerful and it transmits pure, unfiltered sensations. Sitting behind the wheel of a real piece of automobile history was an unforgettable experience.”
